Joseph Nicholas Frank married Mabel Elizabeth Swillum, daughter of John J. Swillum and Anna Sophia Finke, on June 9, 1908 at Jefferson City, Missouri. He and Mabel lived on July 10, 1908 at 214 Olive Street, Jefferson City, Missouri. 

Joseph Nicholas Frank is a head of household on the 1910 U. S. Census at Jefferson Township, Jefferson City, Missouri, as "Joe N. Frank" Joseph was a married 38 year old white male born in Missouri. He owned a home (mortgaged) on Olive street and was a 'plummer' with his own shop. Enumerated with Joseph were Mabel Elizabeth Swillum. 

Joseph was a fireman in Jefferson City and on February 5, 1911 during a fire at the State Capital Building he suffered from smoke inhalation but recovered when he was carried from the building.

He was a plumber with Jefferson City Light, Heat & Power in 1916 at Jefferson City, Missouri. He lived on January 13, 1920 at 214 Olive Street, Jefferson City, Missouri. 

Joseph Nicholas Frank is a head of household on the 1920 U. S. Census at Jefferson City, Missouri, Joseph was a 48 year old white male born in Missouri. He was a plumber with his own store and owned a house on Olive Street, Jefferson City (mortgaged). Enumerated with Joseph were Mabel Elizabeth Swillum, Charles Joseph Frank, Richard Frank, Anna Elizabeth Frank, and Georgia Mae Frank. 

He died on July 25, 1949 at Jefferson City, Missouri, at age 77.
