Laura Archer Knapp and David Francis George Berg obtained a marriage license on February 28, 1935 at the County Clerk's Office, Clayton, St. Louis County, Missouri, recorded in book 37, page 396. Laura Archer Knapp, daughter of Wirt Edward Knapp and Rowina Fay Harris, married David Francis George Berg, son of Henry Andrew Berg and Lydia Marie Schoettle, on March 3, 1935 at Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kirkwood, St. Louis County, Missouri.

 

David Francis George Berg

Dave was born on October 19, 1913 in St. Louis County, Missouri. He was baptized in 1913 at Kirkwood, St. Louis County, Missouri; the sponsors were Theodore Lochhaas, Emma Amelia Laumand and David Carl Berg.

He was enumerated with Henry Andrew Berg on the 1920 U.S. Census at Bonhomme Township, Kirkwood, St. Louis County, Missouri, he was listed as a six-year-old white male born in Missouri. He lived with his parents, Lydia and Henry, from 1920 - 1924 at 135 East Monroe Avenue, Kirkwood, Missouri. Around 1925 he dropped out of school, soon after his father died and worked as a caddy at a golf course. He often spent more time playing craps than caddying! He lived with his mother, Lydia Marie Schoettle, from 1928 to 1932 at 406 East Jefferson Avenue, Kirkwood, Missouri. His Social Security Number was 498-05-9306 assigned on circa 1932. He lived with his mother Lydia, in 1934 at 712 North Geyer Road, Kirkwood, Missouri. He was employed by the Great A & P Tea Company in 1934 as a clerk.

Laura and Dave Berg lived in 1936 at 127a East Monroe Avenue, Kirkwood, Missouri. Residing with them were their children David and Dawn. He adopted Dawn Faye Scutt, whose natural parents were Stanley Wilson Scutt and Laura Archer Knapp, in 1936 at Kirkwood, St. Louis County, Missouri. He was employed by the County Fruit Company in 1936. Laura and David lived from 1938 to 1939 at 343 Rose Lane, Kirkwood, Missouri. Residing with them were their children David and Dawn.

Residing with them were their children David and Dawn. He was a plasterer in 1941. Laura and Dave lived in 1943 at 9322 St. Charles Road, Overland, St. Louis County, Missouri. Residing with them were their children David, Dawn and Ronald. He was a grocer in 1943. Laura and David lived in 1946 at 410 Crest Avenue, Kirkwood, Missouri. Residing with them were their children Ronald, David and Dawn. He was employed by Elmer Berg in 1946 as a plasterer. He was a grocer in 1947 at 3333 Clara Avenue, St. Louis, Missouri. He lived with Laura Archer Knapp in 1967 at Route 1 Box 174, Fenton, St. Louis County, Missouri. Laura and David 1969 at 1650 Bowles Avenue, Fenton. Laura and David Francis George Berg lived in 1972 at Sweet Springs, Saline County, Missouri. He died on April 21, 1988 at Sweet Springs at 74. His funeral service was held in April 1988 at Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kirkwood, Missouri. He was buried in April 1988 at St. Lucas United Church of Christ Cemetery, Sappington, St. Louis County, Missouri, in block 6, lot 32, grave 4.

Laura Archer Knapp

Laura born on February 17, 1910 at St. Louis, Missouri.

     Laura Archer Knapp married Stanley Wilson Scutt, son of Sidney G. Scutt and Eva Kenia Clark, on January 9, 1929 at Deposit, Broome County, New York. She and Stanley Wilson Scutt were divorced circa 1933 at New York.

She was a clerk in 1943. She was owner of Mrs. Berg's Poodle Salon in 1967. She was honored on March 25, 1990 at Tri-City Country Club, Emma, Saline County, Missouri, with a celebration of her eightieth birthday. She died on November 27, 1997 at Good Shepherd Home, Concordia, Saline County, Missouri, at age 87. Her funeral service was held on December 2, 1997 at Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kirkwood, St. Louis County, Missouri. She was buried on December 2, 1997 at St. Lucas United Church of Christ Cemetery, Sappington, St. Louis County, Missouri, in block 6, lot 32, the Lydia and Henry Berg plot. Laura was a past member of the Priscilla Guild, The American Kennel Club and, for 30 years, of the St. Louis Dog Breeders Association. Mrs. Berg raised and showed several types of dogs throughout the United States. For 20 years she owned and operated a dog grooming business in St. Louis County. She was also very fond of doing oil paintings in the Saline county area.
